This blog intends to gather and mobilize
the Rio Grande Valley community members for an environmental effort to bring
back the green that abundantly existed here before urbanization process
devastated a typical rural area, replaced by malls, shopping areas, and pad
sites. The persistent tree cutting, abandonment of crops and fields,
construction of paved roads and sub-divisions were not sufficiently planned
envisioning the preservation of the green. Additionally, the lower-class
population, distributed along the Rio Grande Valley in slums called colonias
are the most affected by. Living in primitive areas of occupation, residents
deprived of political attention struggles for decades to have basic sanitation,
decent public transportation, and a clean environment. This blog seeks
volunteers who can dedicate time to assist these communities to have voice.
Plans of action elaborated by volunteers are considered and envisioned on the
grounds of social change.
